Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL Plus Review
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009The specs on the Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL laptop include a thirteen inch screen, a 2.26GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor and an upgradeable 2GB of DDR3 RAM to 8GB. The160GB hard drive storage and 1280 x 800 resolution image and video display offer clear, concise pictures on the glossy screen. The Apple MacBook Pro offers features that make it one of the more desirable laptops, for many users. Some are not as impressed and others were disappointed with certain facts, however.
The aluminum, uni-body construction of the casing is something they all seem to like. The multi-tasking Mac OS and overall design of the laptop offers impressive features over some of the other laptops on the market. Many think that the Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL is designed as quite an attractive laptop, compared to other brands and models. Stylish appearance doesn’t impress all consumers, however and it is possible to get more memory, storage and features in other laptops that cost less money in other brands.
This laptop does have a surface that is glossy and this allows for superior viewing if lighting circumstances are good. Some did find that when lighting conditions were normal there was too much light reflected. The keyboard is normal sized but has no number pad. The battery of this model is not removable.
It can’t be denied that other laptops don’t offer the superior Mac OS, which is noted for the multi-tasking abilities. While this model is an improvement over previous aluminum 13″ MacBooks that were launched and the price was reduced by $100, reviews were still mixed, although these were items that some consumers were impressed with.
The extended battery life is an upgrade on the MacBook Pro, although some consumers report that they are not getting the full seven hours expected, but are getting closer to six hours, instead. Taking the battery out of the MacBook Pro is not an easy task, and you need to be seated close to an electrical outlet, since the cord is so short. The SD card sticks out a little further than many consumers prefer, as well.
The disappointed consumers could have been misled with the pre-launch hype of this laptop. Expectations of the MacBook Pro may have been too high to obtain. The difficulty in using the cursor control and the dialog books that were too numerous were complaints that some consumers reported.
If there was one feature that all consumers found to be impressive it was the uni-body enclosure. Multiple parts are used to construct notebooks. However, the MacBook Pro is made of a single part. This is completely unique and considered as groundbreaking. In other words, the uni-body is one piece of aluminum. The manufacturer shapes and works this piece into the uni-body with its incorporated keyboard.
The unbelievably thin and lightweight enclosure of the laptop is the end result, so it is easy to carry wherever you go. The preloaded software includes Apple Mac’s Leopard OS, iTunes, iLife 09, Garageband, iPhoto and iMovie. These are bonuses that consumers like, besides the fact that the Apple MacBook Pro is durable enough to be used inside or out without concern.
